Jill McDonald is proud to be a Board Member and Volunteer for "SPOT: Stop Pet Overpopulation Together" in Pinellas Park, Florida. SPOT volunteers have worked together for many years to achieve their goal of opening a low cost spay/neuter clinic in Pinellas Park. In February of 2009, this dream was finally realized. In the first month that the clinic was open, over 200 pets were spayed or neutered. The clinic features a state of the art facility with a dynamic staff. Check out the link below for Jill and Calypso's appearance on Channel 10 pubilicizing the Grand Opening of the Clinic.
Pet overpopulation is the number one killer of pets in America.
In order to reduce the number of pets being euthanized, we need to get to the root of the problem. Shelters are overflowing with people’s pets; 75% of them are mixed breeds, which is a direct result of pets escaping and coming home pregnant. Most of the pets turned into the shelters are turned in because of unwanted behaviors that could have been avoided if the animals had been spayed/neutered. However, for many people, the cost to spay/neuter their pet is prohibitive. SPOT is changing that with their low cost clinic.
